A memorable trip to Simei ITE
I met Abigail (aka Meihua) at Tiong Bahru MRT. One funny thing happended was I was waiting at the control station and Abi was waiting at the platform. It took us 15mins later to discover that and we finally meet each other at the platform. Phew!
We went to Simei ITE. It was my first time stepping into the campus. It was awesome. We met Joel and David (Jin Wei) for early lunch. I'm so happy to see both of them. We went for baked rice and I go for spagatti... I guessed I have missed quite alot on Italian food! Ha!
We settled down on the cafe, Chen Wei came and joined us. We chat on everything and anything under the sun. It was really fun and I enjoyed talking to all. I treasured the time as I hardly have time chatting with them after Tertiary service.
I remembered Chen wei is our new brother and he came to my house with some DI people to watch world cup final. He has changed so much since then. He is not so shy and love to laugh. Talking to him is so enjoyable because whatever jokes I cracked, he will laugh. He is a good support! ha!
After 30mins later, Ace and Kelvin came and joined us! The table is filled with Hope people! Glen, a new brother suppose to joined us but can't make it due to some reason. Glen, hope to see you soon and catch up with you....
Overall, I had a good time immersing into the culture of the ITE students. The campus was filled with life and people. There was a live band performance and many people were drawn to the music. Abi, myself and the rest, we had a discussion on how to reach more ITE students and more guys ITE students! I'm looking forward to see a unit in Simei ITE and more units in other ITEs campus!
We are building a global Institution Technical Education ministry.
A full house Tertiary Service
After the tertiary service, I rushed back home with Wilson and Belle for a family dinner. When we are in the car, Belle told me that David Yew (Wilson's UL) asked Wilson how does he feel to see his sister preaching in the service. His answer is fantastic. Wah, he is being encouraging. :) I felt weird to have my brother in service listening to your own preaching. There are thoughts like I'm not up to the standard of the Word, he knows my private life as we have lived under one roof for more than 20 over years.
This experience has humbled me that as a teacher of the Word, the authority comes from the Word not about how good I am. We should be a willing vessel as a herald of God's word. This experience has caused me to be more motivated to live a stronger private life. It's easier to develop our public ministry but it's the private life (where not many people are watching) that build the person.
A strong private life will leads to a impactful public ministry. I was sharing with Wilson and Belle that hope to see my elder sis, her husband, my elder brother and his wife, our parents worshipping Jesus together! This vision still burn very strongly in my heart! As what Joshua says me and my household will serve the Lord!
This evening Tertiary service was awesome! It was full house! I was so challenged that every Tertiary service should be filled to the last row of Nexus. Thanks to Yean Shien, Yin San, Mabel and Wendy's group who came because they can't attend Sunday morning service. I have a clear picture of what a Tertiary service should be - Full house, strong spiritual atmosphere, spiritual praise and worship, warm fellowship, faithfilled service leading, practical preaching.
This is the full house service!
That's the kind Tertiary service we will build with all Tertiary leaders and TWamers! We will ask God to helped us in those area of lack and continue to major our strength. This short term vision will come to pass by Jan 2007! We give thanks in advance....
Updates about Prague Leadership Conference
Here are the photos with the Europe leaders.
Another funny picture on our Hope elder, Pastor Simon Eng with Hope Burlin Pastor Marcus.
I love going to Quarterly leadership conference. The next Leadership conference is in Kachanaburi, 2 hours ride from Bangkok on 6th-8th November! Calling all ULs/ULas and above to set aside the date (Take leave from boss or ask your parents) for this trip.
Let's get connected with our Hope international leaders and get direct impartation from elders about Hope Movement direction and progress!
Trip in Prague
This is the 2nd part of my trip to Europe. Czech of Republic is the next stop after Italy. It was a good experience espeically we touched down to Czech airport. It was so different from Rome airport. Prague airport is new and clean.
Martin, Hope brother from Prague church picked us up using Hope Church poster to identify himself. He is a young doctor and have served in Prague church for 3 years. The guys on the far right is Martin.
Prague is a beautiful city and Prague castle is indeed beyond words description. It looks like castle in those cartoon and the night scene was indeed awesome. We had a long walk on Charles bridge and the funny thing is that we got a little tried going to the bridge 3 times. (Whenever there is free time in the conference, people will invite us to go to the bridge.)
The time spent in the conference was envisioning for me. The vision of the movement has indeed taken another deep root in my heart. I saw so many Europeans in the LC abnd Asians were the minority. The work in Europe was great! The Great Commission is near. I felt so challenged that we are not just doing the work in Singapore but all the Hope leaders were doing in their local church! I was reminded of what our founder said, One man can change the world. That's what I saw - Many men can change the world in a shorter time!
I have a chance to catch up with some German leaders who came to Singapore to be trained. It was good to catch up with them on their personal life and also ministry. Seeing them serving fervently has caused me to take overseas hope leaders training in Singapore more seriously. We can share experiences, resources and lives cross culturally! That's what Hope family about!
I will post the photos of the Europeans leaders in the next post. I can't seems to post it rightly, I mean in terms of alignment. :(
Trip in Rome
Have been back for 10 days after a long Europe Holiday and Leadership Conference. It was a terrific expereince. I was with Shirley and Gwen for the Italy trip. We took so many photos together that we will never do it in Singapore. :)
Italy has very rich Architectual culture. Managed to visit Rome then Florence then Venice. I loved Rome where I got to see Michealangelo paintings and sculpture. We spent great time with our Italy missionary - Angelina and Chee Keong. I'm very inspired by their vision and committment to God's call to reach Italians! 3 cheers for our church planters!
Pastor David Chen joined us on the 1st two days in Rome. It was a great trip together and found out that he is pretty good in photography! It's great to spend time with friends!
