NG8 DMM rockz!

As I was tasked to serve in adult group, one of the sub-District - NG8. I was officially took over from Cara in 1st April 2009. Since then, I got to know the leaders more over meal time and informal hangout time after service. It was really good knowing them - Victor, Kuan Long, Kelly and Elaine. They are really a group of committed and faithful leaders. They love God and was courageous to step forward to lead!

Today, we had our 1st time DMM at Europe room. We spent the 1st part of the meeting praying intensively for our own lives, CLs lives and for the sub-District. We prayed for the adult's camp and God's blessings and favour upon our people's lives. It was refreshing. I could sensed Holy Spirit leading us to pray and interceed.

We talked and discussed few key areas of the sub-District. I shared on a few areas that we as leaders could established ourselves in our unit.

1. To develop an unshakable conviction on growth. Growth in quality and maturity of our people. Growth in numeric (evangelism and follow up) as it's normal to grow and biblical to grow in numbers.

2. To grow in faith and dependency on God. Leaders bring people to hope for the future. It's impossible to change someone unless God do it on our behalf as we work. Faith is the key to unlock impossibility. God's miracles will work in the atmosphere of faith.

3. To create a strong discipleship and leadership culture. We believes in unleashing people's potential. Not everyone are born leader. But everyone can be nuture to be leader in different capacity. We need to ensure shepherding and mentoring are strong in every level.

As I shared these few areas, we discussed in details on our June goal and working on a new teams of leaders. There are challenges and unknown but I have this assurance that if God has called us to lead the group into newer glory and strength, he will give us wisdom. We are never a failure but learner!

So let's fail big time, oops, sorry, let me rephrase it, let's learn big time!

Star Trek

Man, I watched this movie on Sunday and I fell in love with it! I'm aint star trek fans nor am i aiming to be a trekker! I didn't know much about the story of star trek and I don't grow up watching the TV series...

Colin bought the tickets and we went to watch with Choon Yam. Initially, I was very apprehensive about it but since the ticket was bought so I just went along. Gosh! I'm glad I didn't miss it and it was really good.

I like the animation and pretty interesting storyline. It was pretty funny too! Worth catching it!

priorities

Two friends were walking near Times Square in Manhattan. It was during the noon lunch hour and the streets were filled with people. Cars were honking their horns, taxis were squealing around corners, sirens were wailing and the sounds of the city were almost deafening.

Suddenly, one of them said, "What an interesting place to hear a cricket."

His friend said, "You must be crazy. You couldn't possibly hear a cricket in all of this noise!"

"No, I'm sure of it," his friend said, "I heard a cricket."

"That's crazy," said his friend.

The man, who thought he had heard a cricket, listened carefully for a moment and then walked across the street to a big, cement planter where some shrubs were growing. He looked into the bushes, beneath the branches, and sure enough, he located a small cricket.

His friend was utterly amazed."That's incredible," said his friend. "You must have superhuman ears!"

"No," said the man who heard the cricket. "My ears are no different from yours. It all depends on what you're listening for."

"But that can't be!" said the friend. "I could never hear a cricket in this noise."

"Yes, it's true," came the reply. "It depends on what is really important to you. Here, let me show you."

He reached into his pocket, pulled out a few coins, and discreetly dropped them on the sidewalk. And then, with the noise of the crowded street still blaring in their ears, they noticed every head within 20 feet turn and look to see if the money that tinkled on the pavement was theirs.

"See what I mean?" asked the man who had heard the cricket. "It all depends on what's important to you." (Keenan Kelsey, Making Choices, via eSermons.con newsletter)
